About Us

Where we work

Rural Alliance for Youth Development (RAYD) focuses its activities across the national territory of Cameroon.

For the past decade, all field activities were principally executed in three Regions of Cameroon, namely Southwest Region (Fontem, Lewoh, Alou, Bechati in Lebialem Division), West Region (Santchu) and the Littoral Region (Melong).

Our strategic direction for the next 10 years, starting January 2020, is to upscale our work, through partnerships with other youth-centered organisations, and through artificial intelligence to reach out to rural youths in all the 10 Regions of Cameroon.

RAYD has for the past decade silently and reliably given this support to young people using financial and material contributions from RAYD members, mainly.

However, in January 2020, realising the interdependence of our work, and to maintain the increasing trust that these vulnerable young people place on RAYD, we decided to solicit funding from all legitimate sources to increase our operating scale to benefit more youths in the medium to long-term.

The capitalisation of the social entrepreneurship platform (MONGO-na-BENUE) is seen as the main catalyst to making the vision of RAYD a reality.

Our History

Rural Alliance for Youth Development (RAYD) is a registered non-profit organisation founded in 2008. RAYD is a membership organisation; with all members focusing on contributing to the vision of the organisation – Do everything possible for rural youths to realise their full potential.

RAYD is run by an elected executive board who volunteer their time to ensure that the vision of the organisation is achieved. Most of the executive members are professionals in their different walks of life, and therefore head most of the programs run by RAYD.

RAYD has been working for over a decade to tackle illiteracy by paying tuition fees and providing school needs to rural youths, providing solutions for poverty alleviation through the donation of start-up capital and trainings in operating petit businesses, encouraging unity among youths through sports, and running health programs on issues that particularly affect youth – HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and drug abuse.
